Lesedi was founded to provide technical resources for the Nuclear Power Industry. Over the years we have successfully completed numerous projects in both nuclear and conventional environments, primarily at Eskom’s Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant in the Western Cape.
In 2001 Lesedi Nuclear Services and AREVA NP, a world leader in nuclear power, formed a partnership where AREVA acquired a 45% shareholding in Lesedi Nuclear Services. In November 2006 AREVA acquired a further 6% shareholding and today AREVA is a majority shareholder of Lesedi with 51% shareholding.
Over the years Lesedi has built on its capability and capacity in the fields of Project Management, Design Engineering, Maintenance and Operations, Plant Engineering and Technical Personnel.
Today Lesedi is a Broad Based Black Empowerment Enterprise (BBBEE), employing more than 300 people including 60 qualified engineers and technicians with extensive nuclear expertise, as well as technicians, artisans, semi-skilled and administrative support personnel and highly experienced project management professionals.
As a subsidiary of AREVA NP, Lesedi has considerably enhanced its ability to offer the best value to clients as well as accessibility to the latest, innovative engineering solutions.

Lesedi Nuclear Services provides integrated engineering solutions for all phases of a project, from initial design data and feasibility studies, through conceptual and detailed design to planning, construction, start-up and commissioning, handover and operational support.
Our product and services philosophy is developed and overseen by Lesedi’s project director, Horst Lakemeier. Horst is of German decent, a perfectionist with a passion for detail. He is adamant that Lesedi remains ahead of nuclear market requirements for service, safety and delivery and, over the years, has set and met his objectives for Lesedi and our Clients based on some simple rules:
